~ Mark Heard remembered
In the November issue of CCM Magazine, Mark Heard was remembered in the Rock News section under the header Mark Heard, 10 Years After - songwriter's influence lives on. Mark was featured in the Time Machine column as well.


OCTOBER 21

~ Appalachian Melody finally ready for digital spinning!
Larry Norman, Mr. Solid Rock Records himself, is getting ready to release Mark's Solid Rock album Appalachian Melody on CD, including bonus tracks. He wants to give Mark's fans first shot at ordering, and any Mark Heard fan that is interested in purchasing the CD should contact Larry ASAP at larrynormanemail@yahoo.com

SEPTEMBER 22

~ Mark Heard included on a new CD sampler
Mark Heard's "Nod Over Coffee" from the album Second Hand has been included on the Paste Magazine Sampler 2 (only available with Paste Magazine, issue #2).This issue of Paste Magazine also features the thoughtful tribute article  Mark Heard - Remembering 'America's Best Songwriter'.
Do we really have to give you more reasons for you to run to your nearest outlet to get this issue of Paste Magazine?


SEPTEMBER 13

~ Upcoming radio tribute
The Retreat  -  Mr. John J. Thompson's (JJT) weekly radio show on XM Satellite Radio  -  is going to air a special two-part tribute to Mark Heard. Part One will premiere on XM 31 the weekend of the 21st and Part Two the weekend after. It's told to have lots of Mark's stuff and tons of covers.


AUGUST 23

~ Our first week on the web
One week after the official release, The MARK HEARD Tribute Project have had more than 500 visitors. Friends of Mark, keep forwarding the news!


AUGUST 18

~ New releases include Mark Heard covers
Veteran singer-songwriter Bob Bennett and newcomer Jason Gay both cover a Mark Heard song on their new releases. Bob covers "Heart of Hearts," one of Mark's best known tunes from the 80's, and Jason does a beautiful take on Mark's "Look Over Your Shoulder." Way to go guys! Keep Mark's music alive.

PS  Don't forget to support the brilliant singer-songwriter Pierce Pettis as well. His 2001 release, State of Grace, included a cover of "Rise From The Ruins." Since Mark's passing, Pierce has included a Mark Heard tune on each and every of his releases, and if he continues to do so, Pettis soon will be able to release a Mark Heard tribute album all on his own!
